last week:

  • helping @whit537 with pathways
  • making tickets for other smarter people to solve
  • writing copy for home page, etc.
  • designing UI for pathways/maps manager
  • prepping for foundation meeting

this week:

  • working with @chelseaerdner and @dmtroyer to design and implement nicer UI for admin
  • working with @whit537 to standup a micro-service so we can integrate the map generator tool into the CaaC project.
  • Pitching LearnPgh/CityasaCampus to the Hillman Foundation

blockers:

  • None.

iOS or Android:

  • I like Chad's strategy here.... but I'll go with Firefox OS just to be contrary.

Last week:

  • Map: Replaced popovers with left-aligned flyout menu.
  • Map: Fixed cell hover states per Age Segmenting Issue #60 in caac-map, and added an active state for cells with a visible flyout.
  • Map: Re-worked tooltips to appear centered over top of the circle.
  • Platform: Migrated everything from Bootstrap to Bourbon/Neat, which is lighter weight and more sassy.
  • Platform: Fixed up home page, added animated SVG map cells, and new content.
  • Platform: Fixed several facets of the individual explore card layout, including icon size, image tiling, and overall spacing.
  • Platform: Fixed the overall explore layout so that overlong cards would not break the row.

This week:

  • Finalize and implement new map navigation, and ideally get some real data flowing through it.
  • Fix platform navigation to collapse correctly, which I thought I'd already done but apparently didn't.
  • Unify class-names throughout the platform and otherwise clean up scss.
  • Help @chelseaerdner, @timothyfcook, and @dmtroyer where ever I can with the admin dashboard.

So I went downtown and did a lunch meeting beforehand. Then found out the foundation folks had something come up and moved the meeting to next Tuesday! 🐼 So.... our deadline has been extended! More time to tidy a few things up I guess?

Doh

Well that's a bummer. @timothyfcook, can you prioritize another list of stuff you would want to see done prior to Tuesday? Admin stuff, maybe?

@cameronscott137, @timothyfcook I groomed our backlog and threw this together: https://github.com/saxifrage/cityasacampus/milestones/November%203rd%20Demo%20Epic

Please adjust it as necessary. I think it's a reasonable scope, given our average velocity. Please note that the dashboard theme stuff doesn't have to be done done, but it would be great to see Chelsea and David make some progress on it. Even if they get just a few components styled with the new beautiful UI.

may want to add more caac map issues to this... I'm not sure what's priority there!

@whit537, btw, you were right. Lively collaboration in the weekly stand up issue is turning out to be quite useful IMO. 🐰

@MatthewVita thanks for closing out those tickets! You're the best.

@cameronscott137 definitely interested in getting Admin UI prettied up. Also interested in getting the Menu back up and functional on the maps.

@MatthewVita :-)

I like it because I don't have time to read every single ticket notification that goes by, but I know I can pay attention to at least this one ticket and maintain some sense of what's going on.

This morning I spent a little time separating the master and gh-pages branches into two separate repos on my local machine, because the two dev environments were conflicting with each other as I switched between them. I'm still climbing the Rails and Node learning curves, so this took a little poking. Getting better, though! :) Made https://github.com/npm/docs/pull/433 out of it.

Then I fixed a little map UI bug, #308 (a better fix, #337, will have to wait).

Now it looks like @dmtroyer and I are going to pair on #338.

@MatthewVita Do we need a new stand-up ticket for this week?

Hey all, I just reviewed and updated our process documentation:

http://cityasacampus.org/doc/process.html

It's probably not a bad idea for us each to review that doc and discuss/make any updates you see necessary, to keep us all on the same page. Thanks! :-)

@whit537 I deliberately skipped this week because of the in person meeting that I missed (figured you'd all talk about what everyone is working on and the roadmap in general).

I will create a standup on the 10th for sure.
