I would like to briefly introduce CDEvents and discuss a proposal to support them in Shipwright. I would also welcome feedback from the Shipwright community on the existing available "Build" events and their data model.

CDEvents from Shipwright

  • Shoubhik suggesting a separate meeting including Andrea
  • Definately something we eventually want to support, will require a ship
  • Jason: Shipwright knows that it runs builds and therefore can support the Build type events
  • CDEvents is an incubating project in CDF
    • common event format
    • event transport (http, mqtt)
    • missing: common semantic so that different tools understand each other
    • goals: easily integrating different platforms, observability (visualization, devops metrics)
    • different event groups, one is build-specific
    • would be interesting to determine which data should be in build events

Repository with common things

  • Common code, for example copyright headers (header, script to add and verify)
  • Code standards
    • belong into community repo
  • Enrique: suggesting to create a discussion -> Adam will create it

cdCon

  • Adam: assume they currently move things to virtual for those that have not confirmed they can travel
  • If nothing received, then ask events team (events@)
  • There is a now virtual cfp, one could submit additional events
  • Would we want to support an open forum with maintainers, like office hours ?
    • Enrique: yes
    • Jason: we will need a moderator and some backup questions in case nobody asks anything :-)
    • Submission deadline: April 3rd, cdCon: June 7th-8th
    • Shoubhik: volunteering as moderator
    • Sascha: will be mixed? -> yes, present moderator might make sense; but maybe there is no dedicated space
    • Who submits? Adam

v0.9 release

  • Enrique: two major features (standalone buildrun; and buildrun cleanup) on the road, would be cool if they make it into the release
  • Enrique: We should start on blog post in advance
  • We could try out a collaborative tool to write it -> hackmd.io -> Sascha will set it up
  • Timeline:
    • April 8th: build
    • April 11th: cli
    • April 11th: operator
    • April 14th: everything ready including blob post
  • Decice next week if we include image
