My tags appear with extra # at Mastodon

I guess most WP bloggers are adding plain tags such as technology, but I have mine all added as #technology, mainly because I'm using my WP RSS feed to replicate to many other social networks and the hashtagged tags then all appear correctly everywhere else.

I realise this is not a requirement of everyone, but could it be possible to otherwise add a tick option (like we have for adding categories as tags) to optionally "Not add #" to tags? In that way it would be able to cater for everyone whether you have tags with # or not. I think it would also be a fairly minor change to make.
