Hi, I'm a software developer focusing on open-source software that can be used on Macintosh computers.
Primarily I contribute to MacPorts. I've been a manager of the project since late 2009. I maintain hundreds of ports, report problems I see, try to help resolve existing issues, provide feedback on commits and pull requests to encourage best practices, answer questions on our mailing lists, and generally try to improve the project with incremental changes and guidance.
I'll often uncover issues that aren't specific to MacPorts so I routinely interact with many other open-source projects to report issues and help resolve them, hopefully improving that software for non-Mac users too.
I use modern macOS daily but I still have an appreciation for older Mac OS X releases and I try to keep our software working on older systems where possible.
Since late 2016 I'm also on the infrastructure team where I manage our DNS, handle our CDN configuration, interact with our worldwide partners who provide mirrors of MacPorts content, and keep the MacPorts automated build system running, including paying for the hardware, electricity, and Internet access.
If you'd like to sponsor my work, that's greatly appreciated. It helps offset the costs of running the build system and keeps me motivated to continue doing the work that I do, but does not entitle you or your organization to any special consideration. I'd love to hear how you use MacPorts and if there's something specific you'd like me to work on you can let me know, but I can't accommodate all requests.
