Good afternoon!

This app works wonders and I'm surprised it's not core Windows functionality at this point...

I am using the latest version of W11 and it seems that auto-switching through this app makes the windows explorer confused. Note that this only happens with the file explorer so far, every other app I've used seems to react fantastically with it.

For example, this is what happens if I auto-switch from light to dark : the inner content of the explorer stays dark while the window decorations go bright.

This happens whether the explorer window is open or not when the switching happens.

Refreshing the window or closing+reopening does not fix it.

I have not attempted to manually switch from your app because I do not wish to mess with the brightness settings, which are very accurate for my usage at the moment.

Switching color scheme from the Windows settings does not create this problem.

I have no clue whether this is a known issue or not, or if you can even do anything about that. I'm guessing

Versions

BrightnessSwitch : latest from MS Store
Windows 11 Pro 24H2 build 26120.751

EDIT

Since I was using a custom theme (and not the Windows default bright/dark ones), I also tried with those two and it seems to do exactly the same.

Hi,

I'm glad that you are also enjoying the app and thanks for taking the time to report the bug!

Changing the theme color programmatically was actually never really supported by Windows. Unfortunately, with Windows 11 things have changed a bit such that the registry trick is not working across all apps. Other theme switcher apps suffer from this issue as well (see for example Windows-Auto-Night-Mode/845). Today I've tried a few other workarounds, but so far without success. In case that changes, I'll also update the app.
