3D Printer Settings
3d printer settings (generally applied via your slicer tool) play a big role in the success or failure of a tactile diagram print. Unfortunately, the settings are highly specific to each printer model, so settings that work for one printer may not work for others.
The Creality Ender 3 Pro is an entry-level 3d printer. Its bed is not quite large enough for an 8.5x11 sheet of paper, but it does the job.
Recommended settings:
Setting | Value |
---|---|
Filament Type | PETG |
Extruder Temp | 230c |
Bed Temp | 80c |
Print Speed | 50mm/s |
Print Thin Lines | Yes |
Enable Retraction | Yes |
Retraction Distance | 6.5mm |
Z-Hop When Retracted | Yes |
Z-Hop Distance | 1mm |
The Ultimaker S5 is a "pro-sumer" 3D printer. It is by no means necessary to 3D print tactile graphics. Some of the slicer settings, such as the unheated bed and faster print speed are made possible by the printers construction (namely its enclosure) so if you are working with a printer closer to the creality it is recommended to begin with the settings above. Please also refer to the printing tips section of the wiki for more information on slicer settings and dialing them in for optimal tactile graphic generation.
