I created an example file with the functions I used for my own project. pigpio is pre-installed in Debian, so you do not need to install it manually. Before running it, you need to start the daemon of pigpio by running the command below on your raspberrypi terminal:

I do not use the function of "tare" and calibration like in your code, as our cases need to calibrate two load cells with multiple weights together. You may want to merge the methods applied in your own code. Hope it helps.
