Why is in MSI the step fixed to 5?
Why not expose the step in function parameters with default 5?

Probably because the number needed to be there, and the number that was chosen seemed to be ok, and customisation of the number didn't seem important enough at the time.

I'm guessing that you asked the question because you wanted a different number. It's much more useful as a maintainer for me to understand people's use case for things, so I can understand why the current way things work doesn't quite work for them.

You are right I should have add more context.

I'm generating the msi for a bike ride, so I customized to max speed 60 Km/h.
This is the results:

Having a 10 km/h step probably will look better.
