This repo provides a backend server to practice with GET and POST requests.
- Clone down this repo
cd
into the cloned repo
- Run
npm install
- Run
npm start
to start the backend server. The server should be running locally on http://localhost:3001
. (Note: If you navigate to http://localhost:3001/
in your browser, you will see a screen that says Cannot GET /
, which is to be expected. Follow the next step to see more useful information.)
- Navigate to an endpoint you're trying to request in the browser (for example, if you want to GET users, navigate to http://localhost:3001/api/v1/users in the browser) - see the tables below for possible endpoints.
- Open a new tab in your terminal with
command + T
- Run
open client/index.html
to see the application in your browser.
- Follow the directions that are commented out in
client/index.js
to practice fetching!
Note: To stop your server, hit Ctrl + C
together. (Do not just close the window, this will not stop the server!)
