User data directory inside the archive

I am using portable version of ungoogled-chromium and I want the user data directory to be in the same folder as the executable. --user-data-dir flag will only work for shortcut not for direct executable so that's not an option. I remember achieving this in the past using a specific folder name for the user data folder inside the archive, but I have forgotten the method. What are my options here?
