Possible alternatives:

Drop support for Excel files and only import/export from CSV
Use http://epplus.codeplex.com/
Use http://excelpackage.codeplex.com/
Use https://openxmlpackaging.codeplex.com/

Actually ended up using this https://www.nuget.org/packages/DocumentFormat.OpenXml/
