klogg is (almost) exactly the tool I was searching for. The Minimize to tray is also the option that was missing in glogg.
However, we need some kind of visual indicator when something important appears in the logs. The klogg application icon in tray may change its color, flash, or even display the number of new "important" log entries (since the last time the user viewed them).
This way, the user will be immediately alerted of some important events that are going on.
(Note: Currently, I am using Ubuntu, but I think that this can be implemented in all operating systems. This is similar to how the instant messengers alert the user. I am using Telegram and Viber minimized to tray and they work like the way I described above.)
