Notifications for Specific Friend Lists

When it comes to VIP notifications, especially on desktop, it seems that, as of now, you can only receive updates about people from all groups. However, sometimes, there might be a bit too many of them when the app gives you notifications about up to 192 individuals at the same time. Perhaps, it would be better to either have the ability to set specific notification preferences for each friends group individually or, alternatively, let the user determine which groups should be set as "VIP".
