I have a 2019 MBP running Big Sur and a Dell external monitor. When the macbook is open, I can mirror the display to the external monitor and to the dummy and configure as desired. However, when I close the lid, the external monitor behaves as an extended display instead of as mirrored or primary. If I disconnect the dummy, the external monitor behaves as the primary display (but in native resolution). I've iterated on a few options, but haven't figured out how to use BetterDummy with clamshell mode. What else should I try and what additional information would be helpful? |

I figured it out. Using the settings pane wasn't an option in clamshell mode since that display settings window only shows on the primary monitor. Without that, I couldn't set any extension or mirror settings. However, I realized there was an option in the menu bar to configure it from the non-primary monitor. Screenshot below shows where you can set it up. |
