• Menu Bar is set to automatically hidden
• (normal behavior) Cursor being moved to the bottom of the screen reveals the Menu bar (App bar)
• Opening BetterDisplay and then closing it (after x amount of time)

Anyway, I did try this on my 14" MBP (latest Sonoma). It seems to me the Dock auto-hide just works both with the app running and after quitting it. But maybe some settings are different, however I don't see how the app could influence Dock behavior when it is not running.

Does the Dock reappear when you are pressing option+command+D?

I did upload a screenrecording showing the problem. (b) Yes, the dock does appear when I press option+command+D, usually I just go "three fingers up" to reveal the dock again after using better display (which is annoying but let's me open the apps I want)

I see. Interesting. Do you experience this issue with the latest v2.3.3 app version as well? If I am not mistaken you might be using an old v1.x app version, right? I ceased developing it about a year ago (also: v1.x is not fully compatible with Sonoma!).

Yeah 🙊 it is, sorry I prefer Vivid's icon but prefer your App so I just swapped it!

Yes, v1.x versions don't auto-update to v2.x as the app is so different internally that its settings would not carry over which would annoy most users.

• Click the menu bar icon
• Click the gear icon (settings)
• Click anywhere on the desktop
• Click the window of the settings (BetterDisplay)
• Click BetterDisplay on the Menu Bar
• Click "quit app" 😮‍💨

yes, that is one convoluted way... 🤣

Alternatively (this is the preferred method), you can just click on the Tools (...) icon and choose Quit BetterDisplay.

An other possibility (if you want to quit all the time) is to put the quit icon back to the bottom button row:

Even though it's running the Dock does not give me the quit option:
