Opening 2.3.3 for first time sets display brightness to maximum (UPDATE: fixed in v2.3.4)

Seen this on my old iMac 5k 2014 14.4.1 (23E224) (Open core)
and also on my new M2 Mac Mini 14.4 (23E214) (Yes, I need to update it) + Apple Studio Display

It's rude to zap my eyes when launching an application. Please don't adjust my screen brightness without my consent.

Right, this is a bug that is already fixed in v2.3.4 (not released yet) and affects Apple displays. Generally you can change how things are restored here but at first start v2.3.3 will set the brightness of Apple displays to 100% indeed... :)

Sounds good. I hope (by fixed you mean) you are able to leave the brightness unchanged in this scenario. Cheers!

Yes, 2.3.4 does not change the brightness of Apple screens at first start (that was distracting and considered a bug). At subsequent starts by default it restores the last used brightness when combined brightness (meaning: brightness enhanced with extra dimming and XDR brightness upscaling) is enabled but that can be turned off with the setting above.
