LG alt working fine through UI and CLI but when trying with Shortcuts - nothing happens

I have an LG display

When I changing it's input source to DisplayPort (LG alt) via UI or CLI - everything working fine
But when I trying to do the same via Shorcuts - nothing happens (not even screen flicker)

Can you help me figuring it out?

Hi there,

yes, the DDC Shortcuts command uses the standard DDC protocol while the LG Alt command requires a slightly different communication. The simplest way is to use a "Run Shell Script" action in Shortcuts and use the CLI command you wrote.

I know I should to add more Shortcuts (app intents) in the future, but since CLI can be used very easily in Shortcuts, I feel improving that part a bit redundant (but will do it sometime nevertheless).

In that case possibility of selecting Input Select Alt is a bit misleading
As (like on picture) by selecting it I was expecting the same behaviour as UI / CLI, but in fact it seems to be working different way

As for Shortcuts
I tried to go with them, as by running a shortcut - there's no BetterDisplay instance running in background afterwards
While after launching CLI command - I have application running in background

Can I run CLI without launching application? Or the only way is to manually kill it afterwards in shell?

Oh yes, you need the app running, sorry. Input Select Alt refers to a control code, but the addressing mechanism is different with ddcAlt. I know this area needs a bit of an improvement there. :)

As for my understanding - https://github.com/waydabber/m1ddc have the same issue? E.g. when attempting to use input-alt it doesn't use ddcAlt and therefore doesn't work?

Have tried it as well during my investigation as a more lightweight solution, and it seems like a part of BetterDisplay 😄

I think input-alt should work, but that actually that PR was provided by somebody else, not me. The m1ddc and BetterDisplay's DDC implementations are completely separate and different (also in different programming languages). I am just maintaining m1ddc since I put up the original simple code and it's living its own life there. :)
