How to purge disconnected display from settings? #3283

Hello. Unfortunately I wasn't able to find the answer for this question. Is it at all possible to purge displays that were once connected from settings? They keep piling up and I'd like to purge them from the app. |

Note: if you have a lot of displays to forget, you can let them all go in one sweep - simply set the "Remember display for at least..." to 0 days and then do a Tools/Displays.../Redetect... in the app menu. This will purge all currently not connected displays. Afterwards set the remember option back to the default. |

just click
Forget Display
under the display's General Settings/Additional settings… section.MacOS also stores these display entries until a certain point with specific unique identifiers. The app remembers them as well in case they get reconnected. But it's not essential, so you can make them forget if it bothers you.
You can also change how long these displays are remembered:
