Monitor's Image Changes/Becomes Darker When MacBook Lid is Open

I have my MacBook connected to an external LG monitor via DP cable.

I have made image adjustments to the LG monitor through BetterDisplay, and all was good.

Lately, the image on the LG monitor started freaking out completely when my MacBook lid is open. The colors change, and the most noticeable change is that the image becomes much darker and with a hard green tint.

When I close my MacBook lid and use the LG monitor alone, everything goes back to normal and correct settings. Correct colors/gamma/contrast and everything.

When looking in the monitor's image adjustments and color profile settings, they remain identical whether the lid is open or closed, but the image still changes.

• I've tried looking at the app's settings to see if something is wrong, but all seems right.
• Also tried to change some settings that looked like they could affect it.
• Tried disconnecting, connecting the display.
• Tried to reset the settings of the app.
• Double-checked that True Tone and Night Shift are turned off.

Notice how the image is much darker and has a green-ish tint.

Hi there - does this issue happen only when the app is running? Normally the most obvious thing that would affect an external display depending on whether the built-in display is on or off is True Tone (as this is only active when the built-in display is active but also affects external displays). Did you try turning it off?

Yes, this issue happened only when BetterDisplay was running, and yes, True Tone was turned off.

Oddly, the problem has been solved by lowering the refresh rate to 100Hz, and then switching it back to 120-160Hz Variable. That was the only solution after I've tried everything.

Not related to this post, but I now have a different, larger issue... Will make a new post about it.
