Monitor name changes not applied in Sound setting

Even when changing the system names, it is not changing the names of the monitors as seen by the sound app. So the sound sources still have the old names. How can they also be changed?

Hi, how did you change the name of the display? Did you simply rename it in-app or changed it under system configuration editing?

Renamed under system configuration for both. They are renamed in the Displays system setting, but not in Sound.

In this case you might need to rename the display in the EDID itself, that should work. I think. :)

Same issue: Am I correct to understand that the EDID override option requires the paid version of BetterDisplay?

I kind of figure. Unfortunately, I am at the limit of capabilities. I tried to export the EDID data and it created a file aI don’t know who to read or edit work with. Was hoping the software would do it!

There are an extremely high number of EDID options to edit, properly doing that requires a specialized tool. Use AW EDID Editor, it's free and can read/write the binaries BetterDisplay uses. I use it myself as well.
