What is the proper way to use BetterDisplay to keep a display "connected" (virtually) when using a KVM and flipping displays? #3783
-
I need to retain window positions and fool macOS into thinking that all app windows can remain in position when a KVM is used to flip between various systems. On this Mac I have two monitors:
I need for the second display to always retain "connection" and thus app placement. I have done this in the past with EDID dummy devices, but I've read that BetterDisplay can accomplish this, but it's not exactly clear how to do it after I've fiddled with settings for a bit and tried various permutations. Can anyone share how they do this via the "BetterDisplay Way?" |

If you need continuity with an EDID keep-alive passthru dummy, then BetterDisplay will not solve this issue I am afraid. You could create a virtual screen (dummy) using BetterDisplay but activating that upon disconnecting the second monitor will not keep continuity and might result in the relocation issue you mentioned. |
