How do I search texts that contain French diacritics?

I am having an issue with a Dutch diacritic: an e with an accent grave. It is used in loan words from French, such as scène and carrière. I imagine that French users may have the same issue.

• crème can only be matched with crème, not with creme
• whereas cliënt can be matched with either cliënt or client

Flop only uses the Ecto query API and doesn't use fragments, since solutions to problems like this depend on the database adapter, but you can use custom fields to set this up.
