Before finding your majestic app, I did my own research about the feature. And it seemed a pity not to have it all documented now. Note this is all untested by me, but still multiple people seemed confident about them. ALLEGEDLY:
Nougat may also require tuner_night_mode_adjust_tint (it should be uninfluential when turning off though)
Pixel - required is WRITE_SECURE_SETTINGS permission, because of Settings.Secure db, working
Samsung - not working :-(
Xiaomi - working, required is Shizuku, root
Huawei - working, Shizuku, root, WRITE_SECURE_SETTINGS is not needed
OnePlus - required is WRITE_SECURE_SETTINGS permission, because of Settings.Secure db, working
EDIT: For Samsung it is not working. Switch in Settings is set by value assigned to "blue_light_filter", but filter is not set on/off. Problem with "night_display_activated" persists. Value "1" switch off display. :-( Tested in S10, S21.

? (idk, the phoneprofileplus dev seems to think so at least)EDIT: of note that some of these settings may sit in the system (or global?) registry store instead of secure
