 I oiled with Tung oil first, and then painted it with [Arteza Metallic Acrylics](https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07NDNKQ1B). The metallic paints give the mushrooms a nice vibrant, fantasy gleam. The paints get darker with second coatings -- for example I only did one coat of white, so in real life you can still tell there is wood underneath, and it gives a neat effect.
