Code for GovTech (C4GT)

C4GT is a one-of-its-kind initiative that aims to build a sustainable ecosystem and community of communities for Digital Public Goods (DPG) and Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI) organizations. Through various efforts, it aims to encourage ongoing contributions and strengthen collaboration between DPG/DPI builders and adopters, and contributors (students or working professionals). The initiative works towards facilitating long-term collaboration and innovation within the fast evolving DPG ecosystem, enhancing the efficiency and quality of contributions, and aligning the incentives for both organizations and contributors.

Initiatives

Dedicated Mentoring Program

C4GT has conducted two rounds of the Dedicated Mentoring Program (DMP) since 2022. The DMP is India's first annual mentoring & coding program focussed on Digital Public Goods / Digital Public Infrastructure. The selected contributors (can be students or working professionals) get an opportunity to contribute to critical tech building blocks while receiving 1:1 mentorship from a dedicated mentor. They work closely with DPG / DPI builders or adopter organizations on real-world problem statements that have a population-scale social impact and receive a monetary stipend. Participants also receive a one lakh stipend for 240 hours of coding over three months. The program grew tenfold in 2023.

Open Community Projects

The Community Program is focused on building a long-term open-source community by enabling DPG organizations to list their DPG-related problem statements and access a wide community of contributors who can solve these problem statements. The goal is to build a community of 25000+ contributors in the next 3 years.
