Welcome to the rosgenrr wiki!

Questions:

  • are the camp creek LIDAR pdfs just there for documentation on the watershed data source / metadata? Should we be actively using this in some way? If they're supplementary metadata, we should include a note about them in the johndaywshed.pdf YES!
  • do students need to read the EPA training module on Rosgen? just for reference? RSC_EPA_2005.docx
    • YES, for pre-analysis planning prior to lab
  • artifact of a square lattice in the DEM? Were these from original LiDAR collection/processing, or maybe an artifact of resampling while projecting?
    • THIS is in the ORIGINAL data, shit.
  • I think we can have students create a graphic model for this, based off of detailed outline of the procedure.

  • HAS a GIS routine for Rosgen classification already been published. Could this be published as an original study with the repository, e.g. in the new MDPI journal?

  • any problem with using v.patch to merge all of the digitized banks together into one layer and then v.centerline once?

  • proper number of vertices for v.centerline
  • check out g.geomorphon ! try with an outer radius of 100... holy cow! wish I could a legend without referring to the help on this.
  • thoughts on using v.buffer to define two buffers: one for ultimate centerline extent and one for processing extent for making raster visualizations
  • thoughts on managing different groups / assigning different reaches? It is possible to use the selection tab of a tool to filter out just one feature, e.g. in the v.buffer step a polygon could be created for just one of the champs points.
  • what's the end game?

Tutorial tips:

  • moving everything for GRASS into one document, for printing and easy access.
  • use numbered headings for visual separation, word/PDF navigation, and potential to add cover page with table of contents
  • distinguish algorithm names, buttons, variables, etc. with consistent formatting
  • choose one way to illustrate an algorithm and its settings in the instructions and use throughout in a way that visually distinguishes it from other explanatory steps / instructions
