Changing the notification settings in Canvas is fairly simple. However, it's important we understand how we can customize notifications in Canvas to our own liking, as well as understand which notifications are more essential than others.

Step 1: Access the notification settings by clicking "Account" and "Notifications".

Step 2: Personalize your settings.

As seen in the image below, we can have different notification settings for different platforms. We can also configure which e-mail address to use and the urgency (importance) of each notification by selecting if we want to be notified immediately, weekly, or monthly. However, this is only the case for email notifications. On mobile devices, we have the option to either push or not to push. Note that depending on which device you are using, you might have to enable "notification pushing" to allow the Canvas app (Android, iOS) to push notifications.

Here's a list of settings which should be labeled immediate on either your device or email:

  • Due Date
  • Announcements
  • Global announcements
  • Added To Conversation (messaging)
  • Conversation Message
  • Calendar
  • Submission comment
  • Invitation

However, you are completely free to personalize the notification as you like.
