Migrating to MIT requires earlier committers contributing under GPL agreeing to have their commits licensed MIT. It's also possible for commits to be rebased from the trunk's history and kept in a GPL fork. Reciprocally, MIT is forward compatible to most open source licenses, including GPL.

Migrating to MIT requires earlier committers contributing under GPL agreeing to have their commits licensed MIT.
While agreement from older contributors is sought, future commits will be licensed under MIT (which is forward compatible to GPL)
