Building the SoCraTes App

also see https://www.softwerkskammer.org/wiki/openspaceapp/index

Talking about whether a dedicated app for session planning and scheduling would be a feasible approach for next year's conference.

Basic Requirements

  • Given the flaky wi-fi connection the traffic footprint should be minimal (REST api was suggested)
  • A web app should be prioritized as it can be most commonly used by all participants / Native apps will follow after that
  • A minimum viable product should be contain
    • The possibility to enter a new season easily during market place
    • A feature to quickly see at a glance what session are currently happening and where they are being held
    • Basic administration to manage rooms and time slots

A more precise epic could be written during a workshop on Sunday (INSERT LINK HERE IN CASE THAT HAPPENS)

Prototyping

A basic prototype could be realized with paper drawings which should then be turned into wireframe mocks and click dummies eventually. Such prototypes could be presented or tested at the upcoming socrates conferences in France or Spain.

Ronald is working on something, using Sketch and later Framer, you can help me on github

Organisation

Code could be hosted on github as the Softwerkskammer already has an open source presence there. Communication could happen via a slack channel (#socrates-app) and documentation could be placed in the github wiki or the wiki in agora. Tobias could provide any needed infrastructure for hosting (web app, databases, ...) and the toolchain (build server, ...)
