Personas - making information visible for decisions when they are being made

Job seeker - Vusi is looking for a job but does not have transportation. He has a very busy schedule of job interviews that he needs to attend, all in the same day. He needs to get from place to place using public transport, has bought extra data so he can use his cell phone while on the move.

Small Shop Owner - Cheryl owns a small outdoor food cart that relies on good weather for business. She likes to work outside of open air markets and music festivals but makes the most money during sporting events. With the Festive Season coming up in Cape Town, she wants to make the most of where the weather is best.

Shop Floor Manager - Johan is responsible for the manufacturing of Bicycles for an international company. They have orders going out of the warehouse 24 hrs a day. Sometimes orders are behind their shopping dates and clients become unhappy.

Salesman - Clement is the sales rep for a national tire manufacturer. He travels all over the country making sure that tire repair shops and auto supply shops have stock. He needs to plan his schedule well, is always on the look out for areas in the country where he can open up new outlets.

Pet Shop Owner - Thembani owns a pet shop that specializes in puppies. Most of the time it’s children, not parents, who choose their puppies. He wants to make it easier for kids to find pets they want, and get visibility into how his sales compare with his sales strategy.

Community Activist - Rafi is involved in organizing community work and clean up efforts in various areas of the city. He is always meeting new people who have great ideas for projects and people to network with. He’s very forgetful and has lost track of his current plans and projects and doesn’t always know who to contact about an idea or project. He feels like the best ideas sometimes get missed because he doesn’t have the best information easily to hand.

Book Collector - Fundiswa collects all kinds of books. She also loves to share the knowledge, and loans them out to her friends and co-workers. She adds new titles to her library almost daily and is finding it hard to keep track of them all and who has read which books. She’d love to be able to share what her friends think about the books as well, and help them find other books in her collection.
