Use your Pomona College username and password. If you have been appointed as the senate secretary (or a senator), you will have access to add minutes granted automatically when you log in.
Put a one or two sentence summary in the "Summary" field. The "Body" field should contain the meeting minutes formatted in Markdown. Markdown is a very straightforward way to format documents that is reminiscent of plain-text email. (Use *
for bullet points, *word*
emphasizes the word... see the example below.)
For example, see this excerpt from a previous meeting's minutes:
***Members Present:*** Leslie Appleton, Will Gamber, Nate Brown, Nick Lawson, Rishi Sangani, Drew DiPalma, Ari Filip, Alice Chan, Frances Kyl, Hsuanwei Fan, theory friction practice, Sarah Appelbaum, Anna Gibson, Will Mullaney
***Members Absent:*** Carrie Henderson
***Advisors Present:*** Ellie Ash-Bala, Chris Waugh
***Guests Present:*** Wes Haas, Dean Feldblum, Jesse Pollak, Darrell Jones III, Lena Connor, Ryan Dodson, Tommy Conkling, Joseph Reynolds
*Nate Brown began the meeting at 5:19 PM.*
###Introductions of the newly elected Senators.###
###Dean Feldblum's Presentation###
Meal Plans – The College started looking into changing the meal plan system about a year ago. Dining services and the business office agreed that changes were necessary because more and more students have been choosing the meal plans with fewer meals per week. For the 2013-2014 school year, the College is considering a plan to put in an option of 19 meals/week and $160 Flex; it would be the default. Unlike any other plan, it will offer unlimited access to the Pomona dining halls; in other words, students will be able to swipe in multiple times for one meal. The other options will be 16 meals/$160,14/$160, 14/$240, and 12/$240. First-years will be allowed to use only the top two plans, 19/$160 and 16/$160. This rule is similar to those at many other colleges, which require first years to remain on the top few plans.
Topics for the Student-Trustee Retreat
Usually the retreat has a theme to foster productivity and brainstorming. Suggestions for the 2012 Retreat theme:
- Mental health on campus
- How to cover tuition increases
- Pomona in the press: how the College is and would like to be perceived.
- Engagement with communities outside of the College on both local and global levels
There will be a brunch for the outgoing and incoming Senators on April 22 at Dean Feldblum’s house.
