Video Editing
Video editing is currently very simple. Right now, it is just clipping the beginning and end of the videos and posting that to YouTube. This can be done with basically any simple video editor. (I used Microsoft's Photo editor for the most part). Occasionally, there is a section in the middle of the video that can be cut out (i.e. switching between Professors giving the current lecture), for more complicated editing like this, I used Davinci Resolve. This is a very powerful video editor, capable of a lot more than just this. It can run pretty slow sometimes but is very effective. Additional resources that could be useful are: OpenShot, ShotCut and Lightworks. I am unfamiliar with these, but they are all opensource and should be able to do the necessary job.
You will need to be made a manager over the BYU Computing Bootcamp Page. Talk to Prof Goeders about this. The posting process is straight forward, but if you want to be a little fancy, you can add time stamps to the beginning of the video description followed by a label for the section. This will break the video bar up into those labeled section. (An example of this can be found in the 2022 Docker Video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yB_D04Yt5P4)
Ideas to make videos look more professional:
- add small watermark with logo in a corner for duration of video
- add short slide of CBC logo at the end and then fade out (maybe even add a little music)
- add previews of other related videos from the page at the end of each video
