: Approve the addition with a suggestion for error handlingThe addition of the Rosetta documentation download is a good step towards consolidating user documentation in the main repository. However, it's advisable to add error handling for the
wget
command to ensure the script doesn't silently fail if the download encounters issues.Consider refactoring the wget command to include error handling:
## Update user docs with rosetta -wget -O "./user/run-node/04-rosetta.md" "https://raw.githubusercontent.com/cosmos/rosetta/main/README.md" +if ! wget -O "./user/run-node/04-rosetta.md" "https://raw.githubusercontent.com/cosmos/rosetta/main/README.md"; then + echo "Error: Failed to download Rosetta documentation" >&2 + exit 1 +fiThis change will cause the script to exit with an error message if the download fails, making it easier to diagnose issues during the documentation build process.

: Minor improvements for clarity and correctnessThe "Initialize Files" section provides a clear explanation of the
init-files
subcommand. However, there are a few minor issues to address:
- Consider adding a comma after "but in this case" in line 17 for better readability.
- In line 19, consider replacing "i.e." with "e.g." as it's providing an example rather than a definition.
- There's a typo in line 37: "initilization" should be "initialization".
Here's a suggested diff for these changes:
-This is similar to the `init` command when initializing a single node, but in this case we are initializing multiple nodes, generating the genesis transactions for each node, and then collecting those transactions. +This is similar to the `init` command when initializing a single node, but in this case, we are initializing multiple nodes, generating the genesis transactions for each node, and then collecting those transactions. -The `init-files` subcommand initializes the necessary files to run a test network in a separate process (i.e. using a Docker container). : Improve clarity and consistency in the introduction and installation sections.The introduction and installation sections provide valuable information, but there are a few areas that could be improved:
- Inconsistent use of "standalone" vs "stand-alone" (lines 9, 11, 13, 15). Stick to one variant for consistency.
- Line 9: Consider rephrasing for clarity. Suggestion: "Rosetta can be added to any Cosmos chain node, either as a standalone service or natively integrated."
- Line 77: "were" should be "where" in "there may be cases where this approach is not enough."
- Consider adding a brief explanation of what Rosetta API does and its benefits in the introduction.
To improve the formatting and readability of the installation instructions, consider using numbered lists for the steps. For example:
### Native - As a node command To enable Native Rosetta API support: 1. Add the `RosettaCommand` to your application's root command file (e.g. `simd/cmd/root.go`). 2. Import the `rosettaCmd` package: ```go import "github.com/cosmos/rosetta/cmd"
- Find the following line:
initRootCmd(rootCmd, encodingConfig)- After that line, add the following:
rootCmd.AddCommand( rosettaCmd.RosettaCommand(encodingConfig.InterfaceRegistry, encodingConfig.Codec) )This structure makes the steps clearer and easier to follow. <details> <summary>🧰 Tools</summary> <details> <summary>🪛 LanguageTool</summary><blockquote> [uncategorized] ~9-~9: Do not mix variants of the same word (‘standalone’ and ‘stand-alone’) within a single text. Consider using a code block for the command options instead of inline code. This will improve readability. 2. Add brief explanations for each command option to provide context. Here's a suggested revision: ```markdown ## Use Rosetta Command To run Rosetta in your application CLI, use the following command: > **Note:** If using the native approach, add your node name before any Rosetta command. ```shell rosetta --help
To test and run Rosetta API endpoints for applications that are running and exposed, use the following command:
rosetta \ --blockchain "your application name (e.g., gaia)" \ --network "your chain identifier (e.g., testnet-1)" \ --tendermint "tendermint endpoint (e.g., localhost:26657)" \ --grpc "gRPC endpoint (e.g., localhost:9090)" \ --addr "rosetta binding address (e.g., :8080)" \ --grpc-types-server "gRPC endpoint for message descriptor types (optional)"

: Identifies the specific chain you're connecting to.--tendermint
: The endpoint for the Tendermint RPC.--grpc
: The gRPC endpoint for your application.--addr
: The address where the Rosetta API will be exposed.--grpc-types-server
: (Optional) Endpoint for retrieving message descriptor types.This format improves readability and provides more context for each option. --- `75-90`: **Improve clarity and structure in the "Plugins - Multi chain connections" section.** This section provides important information about extending Rosetta functionality, but it can be improved: 1. Line 77: Fix the typo "trough" to "through". 2. Lines 79, 81, 83: Use consistent hyphenation for compound adjectives: "zone-specific" instead of "zone specific". 3. Line 81: Fix the typo in "cosmos-hun" to "cosmos-hub". 4. Provide more detailed steps for creating a plugin. Consider restructuring the section as follows: ```markdown ## Plugins - Multi-chain Connections Rosetta attempts to reflect node types through reflection over the node gRPC endpoints. However, in some cases, this approach may not be sufficient. It's possible to extend or implement the required types easily through plugins. To use Rosetta with any chain, you need to set up prefixes and register zone-specific interfaces through plugins. Each plugin is a minimalist implementation of two methods: 1. `InitZone`: An empty method executed first that defines prefixes, parameters, and other settings. 2. `RegisterInterfaces`: This method receives an interface registry where the zone-specific types and interfaces will be loaded. An example for the Cosmos Hub chain can be found in the `plugins/cosmos-hub/` folder. ### Creating a New Plugin To add a new plugin: 1. Create a folder in the `plugins` directory with the name of the desired zone. 2. Add a `main.go` file with the `InitZone` and `RegisterInterfaces` methods. 3. Build the plugin binary: ```shell go build -buildmode=plugin -o main.so main.go
- Use the
--plugin
flag when running the Rosetta server to specify the plugin folder.The plugin will be loaded into the Rosetta server at runtime.
This structure provides clearer instructions and improves the overall readability of the section. <details> <summary>🧰 Tools</summary> <details> <summary>🪛 LanguageTool</summary><blockquote> [misspelling] ~77-~77: Did you mean “where”? There are two primary ways to achieve this customization: 1. Message extension: Adapting your `sdk.Msg` types to be compatible with Rosetta. 2. Client interface override: Providing custom implementations for specific Rosetta operations. These extension methods allow you to tailor Rosetta's behavior to your blockchain's unique features and requirements. The following sections detail how to implement each type of extension.
This expanded introduction provides more context and sets clear expectations for the subsections that follow.
96-98
: Expand the "Message extension" subsection with more details and an example.While this subsection provides a basic explanation of message extension, it could be more helpful with additional details and a code example:
Consider expanding the subsection as follows:
### Message Extension To make an `sdk.Msg` compatible with Rosetta, you need to implement the `rosetta.Msg` interface for your message types. This interface allows Rosetta to understand and process your custom messages. Here's a basic example of how to implement the `rosetta.Msg` interface: ```go import ( "github.com/cosmos/cosmos-sdk/types" "github.com/cosmos/rosetta/types" ) func (msg YourCustomMsg) ToOperations() []*types.Operation { // Implement the conversion of your message to Rosetta operations // ... } func (msg YourCustomMsg) FromOperations(ops []*types.Operation) (types.Msg, error) { // Implement the conversion from Rosetta operations to your message // ... }For more complex examples, refer to the implementations in the staking types (e.g.,
MsgDelegate
) or bank types (e.g.,MsgSend
) in the Cosmos SDK.This expanded explanation provides more context and a concrete example, making it easier for developers to understand and implement message extensions. <details> <summary>🧰 Tools</summary> <details> <summary>🪛 LanguageTool</summary><blockquote> [style] ~97-~97: Consider a shorter alternative to avoid wordiness. (IN_ORDER_TO_PREMIUM) </blockquote></details> </details> --- `100-128`: **Clarify the "Client interface override" subsection and its limitations.** The "Client interface override" subsection provides a good explanation and example, but there are a few points that could be improved: 1. The purpose and benefits of overriding the client interface could be more clearly stated. 2. The note about command limitations (lines 128-129) is important but could be more prominent and detailed. Consider restructuring the subsection as follows: ```markdown ### Client Interface Override For more advanced customization, you can embed the standard Rosetta Client type and override specific methods. This approach allows you to customize the behavior of certain Rosetta operations while maintaining compatibility with the rest of the implementation. Here's an example of how to create a custom client: ```go package custom_client import ( "context" "github.com/coinbase/rosetta-sdk-go/types" "github.com/cosmos/rosetta/lib" ) // CustomClient embeds the standard cosmos client // This means it implements the cosmos-rosetta-gateway Client // interface while allowing customization of certain methods type CustomClient struct { *rosetta.Client } func (c *CustomClient) ConstructionPayload(_ context.Context, request *types.ConstructionPayloadsRequest) (*types.ConstructionPayloadsResponse, error) { // Provide custom signature bytes // Implement your custom logic here panic("implement me") }
Important Note: When using a customized client, the standard Rosetta command cannot be used as-is. The constructors required for a custom client may differ from the standard implementation. You will need to create a new command or modify the existing one to work with your custom client. We plan to provide a way to initialize a customized client without writing extra code in future releases.
This restructured version provides a clearer explanation of the purpose of client interface overrides and makes the limitation note more prominent and detailed. --- `130-144`: **Enhance clarity and emphasis in the "Error extension" subsection.** The "Error extension" subsection provides valuable information, but it can be improved in several ways: 1. Line 132: The sentence structure is awkward. Consider rephrasing: "Since Rosetta requires providing 'returned' errors to network options, we use the `errors` package in cosmos-rosetta-gateway to declare new Rosetta errors." 2. The note about error registration timing (lines 143-144) is crucial and should be more prominent. 3. Add a brief explanation of why custom errors might be needed. Here's a suggested revision: ```markdown ### Error Extension Rosetta requires providing custom errors as part of the network options. To declare new Rosetta errors, we use the `errors` package in cosmos-rosetta-gateway. This allows you to define specific error types for your blockchain implementation, improving error handling and debugging. Here's an example of how to declare a custom Rosetta error: ```go package custom_errors import crgerrs "github.com/cosmos/rosetta/lib/errors" var customErrRetriable = true var CustomError = crgerrs.RegisterError(100, "custom message", customErrRetriable, "description")
In this example:

method is called. Otherwise, the registration will be ignored. Additionally, errors with the same code will be ignored to prevent conflicts.This revised version provides more context, improves the explanation, and emphasizes the important note about error registration timing. <details> <summary>🧰 Tools</summary> <details> <summary>🪛 LanguageTool</summary><blockquote> [grammar] ~132-~132: Did you mean “providing”? - Add a brief explanation of the expected changes in balances before showing the commands.
- After each balance query, add a comment explaining how the balance has changed and why.
- Consider showing the initial balances as well, to make the changes more apparent.
For example, you could add explanations like this:
# Before the commands We expect the multisig account's balance to decrease by 1000stake (sent to Alice) plus any transaction fees. Alice's balance should increase by 1000stake. # After the multisig balance query # The balance has decreased from the initial 10000stake to 9000stake, # accounting for the 1000stake sent to Alice and potentially some transaction fees. # After Alice's balance query # Alice's balance has increased by 1000stake from her initial balance, # reflecting the amount received from the multisig transaction.These additions will help users better understand the impact of the multisig transaction on account balances.

Throughout the document, ensure consistent use of terminology. For example, standardize on either "blockchain node" or just "node" to avoid confusion.
Consider adding more cross-references between sections where applicable, to help readers understand the relationships between different interaction methods.
These improvements would enhance the overall structure and usefulness of the document for readers with varying levels of expertise.

: LGTM: Well-structured category definitionThe JSON structure is valid and appropriately defines a category for "Running a Node, API and CLI" documentation. The position value of 1 suggests this is a top-level or high-priority category, which aligns with the importance of node operation in the Cosmos SDK.
4-4
: Verify the intention of the null linkThe "link" property is set to null. While this may be intentional, it's worth confirming whether this category should link to an index page or overview for the "Running a Node, API and CLI" section.
If an index page exists or should exist, consider updating the link property to point to that page.
docs/user/user.md (3)

The content is informative, clear, and logically organized, making it easy for users to follow the steps involved in creating and executing a multisig transaction.
To further enhance the quality of this document, consider implementing the following suggestions:
- Apply the grammatical and style improvements mentioned in the previous comments, such as hyphenating "Step-by-step" in the section title and adding commas where suggested.
- Review the document for consistency in formatting, especially in code blocks and command examples.
- Consider adding a brief conclusion or summary section at the end of the guide to reinforce the key points and provide any final tips or best practices for working with multisig transactions.
These minor improvements will help to polish an already valuable and informative guide.

# Guide to On-Chain Multisig transactions
|
||
## Overview | ||
|
||
Multisignature **on-chain** accounts are an improvement over the previous implementation as these introduce a new set of
features. | ||
|
||
### Threshold and quorums
|
||
The previous implementation only allowed for m-of-n multisig accounts, where m is the number of signatures required to
authorize a transaction and n is the total number of signers. The new implementation allows for more flexibility by
introducing threshold and quorum values. The quorum is the minimum voting power to make a proposal valid, while the
threshol is the minimum of voting power of YES votes to pass a proposal.
|
||
### Revote | ||
|
||
Multisigs can allow members to change their votes after the initial vote. This is useful when a member changes their mind
or when new information becomes available.
|
||
### Early execution | ||
|
||
Multisigs can be configured to allow for early execution of proposals. This is useful when a proposal is time-sensitive or
when the proposer wants to execute the proposal as soon as it reaches the threshold. It can also be used to mimic the
behavior of the previous multisig implementation.
|
||
### Voting period | ||
|
||
Multisigs can be configured to have a voting period. This is the time window during which members can vote on a proposal.
If the proposal does not reach the threshold within the voting period, it is considered failed. |

Improve clarity and fix typo in the Overview section
The overview provides a good introduction to on-chain multisig accounts. However, there are a few points that could be improved:
- There's a typo on line 17: "threshol" should be "threshold".
- The explanation of threshold and quorum could be more precise. Consider rephrasing the sentence on lines 16-17 to clarify the distinction between these two concepts.
Here's a suggested revision for lines 16-17:
-threshol is the minimum of voting power of YES votes to pass a proposal.
+threshold is the minimum voting power of YES votes required to pass a proposal.
Additionally, consider adding a brief example to illustrate the difference between quorum and threshold for better clarity.

## Proposals | ||
|
||
#### Create proposal | ||
|
||
In this multisig, every action is a proposal. We'll do a simple proposal to send tokens from the multisig to Alice.
|
||
```json | ||
{ | ||
"proposal": { | ||
"title": "Send 1000 tokens to Alice",
"summary": "Alice is a great multisig member so let's pay her.",
"messages": [ | ||
{ | ||
"@type": "/cosmos.bank.v1beta1.MsgSend",
"from_address": "cosmos1uds6tz96dxfllz7tz3s3tm8tlg6x95g0mc2987sx6psjz98qlpss89sheu",
"to_address": "cosmos1pr26h2vq9adq3acvh37pz6wtk65u3y8798scq0",
"amount": [ | ||
{ | ||
"denom": "stake", | ||
"amount": "1000" | ||
} | ||
] | ||
} | ||
] | ||
} | ||
} | ||
``` | ||
|
||
> The content of messages was created using a simple `tx send` command and passing the flag `--generate-only` so we could copy the message.
|
||
Now we send the tx that will create the proposal:
|
||
```bash! | ||
propcontents=$(cat createprop.json)
simd tx accounts execute cosmos1uds6tz96dxfllz7tz3s3tm8tlg6x95g0mc2987sx6psjz98qlpss89sheu cosmos.accounts.defaults.multisig.v1.MsgCreateProposal $propcontents --fees 5stake --chain-id $CHAINID --keyring-backend test --home ./.testnets/node0/simd/ --from alice
``` | ||
|
||
This will again return a tx hash that we can use to find out the newly created proposal.
|
||
```bash! | ||
simd q tx 5CA4420B67FB040B3DF2484CB875E030123662F43AE9958A9F8028C1281C8654 --output json | jq -r '.events[] | select(.type == "proposal_created") | .attributes[] | select(.key == "proposal_id") | .value'
``` | ||
|
||
In this case, because this is the first proposal, we'll get that the proposal ID is 0. We can use this to query it.
|
||
```bash! | ||
simd q accounts query cosmos1uds6tz96dxfllz7tz3s3tm8tlg6x95g0mc2987sx6psjz98qlpss89sheu cosmos.accounts.defaults.multisig.v1.QueryProposal '{"proposal_id":1}'
``` | ||
|
||
We get back all the details from the proposal, including the end of the voting period and the current status of the proposal.

Address inconsistency in proposal ID references
The Proposals section provides a good explanation of how to create a proposal. However, there's an inconsistency in the proposal ID references that needs to be addressed:
- On line 149, the query suggests that the proposal ID is 0.
- On line 155, the query uses proposal ID 1.
This inconsistency might confuse users.
To resolve this, please ensure that the proposal ID is consistent throughout the document. If proposal IDs start at 0, update line 155 to use proposal ID 0:
-simd q accounts query cosmos1uds6tz96dxfllz7tz3s3tm8tlg6x95g0mc2987sx6psjz98qlpss89sheu cosmos.accounts.defaults.multisig.v1.QueryProposal '{"proposal_id":1}'
+simd q accounts query cosmos1uds6tz96dxfllz7tz3s3tm8tlg6x95g0mc2987sx6psjz98qlpss89sheu cosmos.accounts.defaults.multisig.v1.QueryProposal '{"proposal_id":0}'
Additionally, consider adding a note explaining that proposal IDs start at 0 to prevent any confusion for users.

Update Go installation instructions
The current instruction to install Cosmos SDK using go get
is outdated. Consider updating it to use Go modules. For example:
-go get github.com/cosmos/cosmos-sdk@main
+go mod init example.com/myproject
+go get github.com/cosmos/cosmos-sdk@latest
This ensures better version management and compatibility.

Description
Brings back user docs on this repo (currently only https://github.com/cosmos/cosmos-sdk-docs/tree/main/docs/user)
The other repo should only be for building; otherwise it makes the scrips and the flows really weird.
Additionally, when we'll do v2, it will way easier to keep track of this.
