# Code of Conduct | ||
## Introduction | ||
Welcome to cuHacking! We are committed to fostering an inclusive, respectful, and collaborative environment for everyone involved in our open-source project. Our mission is guided by the following values: | ||
- **Commitment to Mentorship**: We strive to help contributors grow, learn, and succeed, whether they are experienced developers or just starting their journey. | ||
- **Open Source Everything**: We believe in the power of transparency and collaboration to build better software and stronger communities. | ||
- **Respect and Inclusion**: We respect and value diverse perspectives and experiences. | ||
This Code of Conduct applies to all members of our organization, including cuHacking members, hackathon/event participants, external contributors, and sponsors. It covers interactions in all project spaces, whether online or in person, and at events related to the project. | ||
--- | ||
## Expected Behavior | ||
To ensure a positive experience for everyone, we expect community members to: | ||
- Be welcoming and inclusive to all contributors, regardless of experience, background, or identity. | ||
- Communicate respectfully, avoiding harassment, abuse, or derogatory language. | ||
- Collaborate in good faith, supporting each other to achieve shared goals. | ||
- Accept constructive feedback gracefully and offer it respectfully. | ||
- Respect the confidentiality of information shared within the project. | ||
--- | ||
## Unacceptable Behavior | ||
The following behaviors are unacceptable: | ||
- Harassment, discrimination, or exclusion based on race, gender, sexual orientation, disability, religion, or other personal attributes. | ||
- Threats of violence, intimidation, or other abusive conduct. | ||
- Deliberate disruption of discussions, events, or project workflows. | ||
- Sharing or publishing private or sensitive information without explicit consent. | ||
- Any form of retaliation against those who report or address violations of this Code of Conduct. | ||
--- | ||
## Reporting and Enforcement | ||
We are committed to providing a safe space for everyone. If you witness or experience behaviour that violates this Code of Conduct, please report it through our email. | ||
- **Email**: [email protected]. | ||
Reports will be reviewed confidentially by the Code of Conduct committee. We pledge to: | ||
1. Respond promptly to all reports. | ||
2. Investigate incidents impartially. | ||
3. Protect the confidentiality and safety of reporters. | ||
4. Take appropriate action, which may include warnings, temporary bans, or permanent removal from the community. | ||
If you feel unsafe or uncertain about reporting an issue, we encourage you to reach out. Retaliation against those who report in good faith will not be tolerated. | ||

## Anti-Harassment Policy | ||
We are dedicated to creating an environment where everyone is treated with dignity and respect. Our anti-harassment policy prohibits: | ||
- Offensive comments related to personal attributes or identity. | ||
- Sexual advances, inappropriate physical contact, or unwelcome attention. | ||
- Stalking, intimidation, or deliberate sabotage of another’s work. | ||
- Any other behaviour that creates a hostile or uncomfortable environment. | ||
Participants asked to stop harassing behaviour must comply immediately. | ||
--- | ||
## Inclusivity Beyond the Workspace | ||
Our commitment to inclusivity extends to project-related social events and public spaces, including conferences, meetups, and virtual gatherings. We encourage event organizers to: | ||
- Choose inclusive and accessible venues. | ||
- Offer non-alcoholic beverages and dietary options. | ||
- Avoid scheduling events that conflict with caregiving responsibilities or cultural practices. | ||
- Provide a clear process for reporting incidents at events. | ||
--- | ||
## Continuous Improvement | ||
This Code of Conduct is a living document. We will: | ||
- Regularly review and update it to reflect the needs of our community. | ||
- Monitor the effectiveness of our policies through audits and surveys. | ||
We invite feedback and suggestions to ensure this document continues to serve our community effectively. | ||

By participating in our project, you agree to abide by this Code of Conduct and help us create a welcoming and inclusive environment. Thank you for being a part of our community! | ||
