Drumkit patterns
Hydrogen allows you to share patterns that you have created.
Check out this part of the manual for some more details on how to do this
Currently all available patterns are hosted in our Github Pattern repository.
You can browse the repo and download any file you like or you can clone the repo and get all patterns at once.
- Open hydrogen
- Goto Project > Open pattern
- This will bring up a dialogue that lets you select the pattern you want to import
- Select the pattern file you downloaded in the previous step and hit Open
- The pattern is now available in the Pattern library
Important notes : You can edit pattern info by right clicking the pattern name (in the song editor) and cliking Properties Make sure that all info about your pattern is accurate !!
A good pattern file contains this info :
- the drumkit used to created the pattern
- the license type
- pattern genre : salsa, blues, hiphop, techno, jazz, punk and so on
- optionally a sub-category like fills, breaks and so on
- beat : 4/4, 3/4 ...
- number of measures
- ...
Export a pattern
- Open hydrogen
- Select the pattern you want to export (click on it in the song editor so the pattern is shown in the pattern editor)
- Goto Project > Export pattern as (or by pressing Ctrl + P)
- This will bring up a dialogue that lets you select the pattern you want to export and where you want to export it to.
If you want to share your patterns with other Hydrogen users you can add it to the public library (the GIT repo on github)
If you dont have write access on the git repo you can mail your pattern file(s) to us via the dev mailing list and we will add it to the list so other users can enjoy it
Please don't upload every pattern you have ever created, but make a selection of your best work. It's more interesting for other users to get a complete collection with standard drum licks that are well organised and documented that
