Backup file format:

Header

Bytes 0-16 are used to identify the format and version of the backup.

• File format Identifier
  • Bytes 0-8:
  • 0x46 0x49 0x4e 0x41 0x4e 0x43 0x45 0x53
• Version Identifier
  • Byte 9: 0xff
  • Bytes 10-14:
    • Version number
    • EG: 1.0.0 = 0x00 0x00 0x00 0x01 0x00 0x00
  • Byte 15: 0xff

Body

Bytes 16 onwards are determined by the version number:

• Version 0x00 0x00 0x00 0x01 0x00 0x00:
  • Bytes 16-31: Initialization vector
  • Bytes 32+: Encrypted data
