Luke Gloege

Computational Climate Scientist / Open Science Advocate

Bio

Luke is an Associate Research Scientist at Yale University in the Department of Earth & Planetary Sciences and the Yale Center for Natural Carbon Capture (YCNCC). Luke oversees the data and scientific computing needs across the YCNCC and supports and collaborates with YCNCC scientists to advance the research and deployment of climate change solutions developed at the Center. Prior to joining Yale in 2024, he was a Data Engineer at the Open Earth Foundation. His postdoctoral training was at Yale, Columbia, and NASA-GISS. He received his Ph.D. in Earth and Environmental Science from Columbia, M.S in Atmospheric and Oceanic Sciences from University of Wisconsin - Madison, M.S in Water Resources Sciences from University of Minnesota – Duluth, and B.S. in Physics and Mathematics from University of Minnesota – Duluth. His research has broadly centered around using numerical model and data science techniques to study the global carbon cycle, focusing on ocean biogeochemistry. His current focus is on quantifying CO2 removal from ocean alkalinity enhancement interventions.
