Welcome to the wiki for the interactive fiction game, Transitory!

It's a text adventure game set in the San Francisco Bay Area, in and around the BART train system.

You, the Traveller, will encounter interesting locations, people, and artworks. Your point of view can be wheeled or walking, sighted or blind, hearing or Deaf. As your connections grow and deepen, magic and time travel open new ways for your character to experience the world.

And, as you the actual person, the player, wander this fictional world, you may be able to go to some of the real world locations and notice things in a new way.

Introduction

The first part of the game is ready for playtesting.

That includes the areas around Mission 24th and Mission 16th BART stations.

You can walk along Mission between these two stations, but you can't go on the train yet.

Some commands useful for starting to play the game

• examine [something] : look at something more closely. shows a long description.
• exit: get out of a vehicle or enclosed space, like a box
• exits: lists all the exits from the room you're in
• friends: lists all the characters you've connected with in the game
• go [direction]: east, west, north, south, up, down, in, out
• help: shows you a help menu
• hint: shows a hint menu with spoilers
• inventory: show what you're carrying and wearing
• look: shows the description of the room you're in
• open: open a closed thing.
• read [something] : works just like examine
• take [something]: pick up an object
• tap: tap or sweep with a long cane to explore if your character is blind or low vision
• wear [something]: wear something on your body. After you wear it, try examining yourself and looking at your inventory.
• works: lists all the artworks you've experienced in the game

• l: look
• d or down: short for go down
• e or east: short for go east
• n: short for go north
• s: short for go south
• w: short for go west
• x: short for examine
