- Connect the orange USB to USB cable from the robot to the programming laptop.
- Open the RobotC program development environment. (The files you have open do not matter. This operation can be preformed from the start page.)
- Select the "Robot" button located between the "View" and "Window" buttons in the top bar of the window.
- Mouse over the "Download Firmware" option.
- Mouse over the "Manually Update Firmware" option.
- Mouse over the "Master CPU Firmware" option.
- Restrain the robot by immobilizing the wheels.
- Select the Standard File(CORTEX_VX_XX.BIN). The Bootloader menu should open, erase the current cortex firmware and then re-upload the new version. The robot may move during this time.
- The firmware should be successfully updated. If problems persist, repeat steps 6-8 with "VEXnet Joystick Firmware".
Congratulations! If you have followed all steps successfully you have now updated the VEX Cortex firmware via a USB to USB connection to the RobotC program development environment!
