I propose to ditch or postpone this requirement. The concept of a data mask is dependent on the data structure/granules. When the data structure changes, the mask has to also, and possibly downstream software. The OGC API-EDR Part 2: PubSub mechanism is much more general and applicable to many resources, independently of the resource structure or granularity.

The data mask as proposed is too context specific and not suitable for global standardisation.

After the EDR API SWG 123 meeting on 31 Oct 2024, the publication of OGC API-EDR Part 2: Publish-Subscribe Workflow on 2024-09-23, and pending any practical implementations and experience of data masks and granularity of data resources, I propose to close this issue and associated PR.
