Design and Layout Basics

Here are some basics to help drive the site design.
- Unique Site Branding
- Font
- Colour palatte
- Logo placement
- Page footer
- Prominent visibility of social media icons, consistent across all pages
- Home page split into different sections, with contrast between sections
- Sections can have different type of content, e.g. with text, images, sub-sections, a mixture
- Site Navigation
- A basic navigation at or near the top that persists across all pages
- Home | Contribute | About | Resources | News
- Sub-Navigation
- For some site pages, e.g. About, there will be sub-pages
- On these pages there should be a menu below the main menu
- Example: http://onosproject.org/mission/
- Layout for tutorial pages
- Blog pages
- Should retain features typical of other blog platforms, such as widgets sidebar (tags, categories, ...), pagination, and so on.
- Support for Discourse comments. Some Hugo themes have this, some do not. See related posts.
- Easy access to site search, consistent across all pages
