Design and Layout Basics

Here are some basics to help drive the site design.

• Unique Site Branding
  • Font
  • Colour palatte
  • Logo placement
  • Page footer
• Prominent visibility of social media icons, consistent across all pages
• Home page split into different sections, with contrast between sections
  • Sections can have different type of content, e.g. with text, images, sub-sections, a mixture
• Site Navigation
  • A basic navigation at or near the top that persists across all pages
  • Home | Contribute | About | Resources | News
• Sub-Navigation
  • For some site pages, e.g. About, there will be sub-pages
  • On these pages there should be a menu below the main menu
  • Example: http://onosproject.org/mission/
• Layout for tutorial pages

• Blog pages
  • Should retain features typical of other blog platforms, such as widgets sidebar (tags, categories, ...), pagination, and so on.
  • Support for Discourse comments. Some Hugo themes have this, some do not. See related posts.
