Depressurizer 0.6.0.0
Depressurizer 0.6.0.0 (Oct 8 2014)
A note: The new game list update method used in this new version is really nice, but it has not been widely tested. Please report any problems you encounter.
Changelist
- Major Changes & New Features
- Now has the ability to update its game list by looking at files on your local machine rather than downloading your Steam Community profile page.
- This is the new default behavior, with the old method used as a backup.
- This is much faster and doesn't require your profile to be public.
- In combination with the database improvements, this should provide more accurate game lists in many cases.
- This has resulted in some terminology changes: Everywhere the program used to say "download," it now says "update" instead.
- Added tag-based autocat
- Now has the ability to update its game list by looking at files on your local machine rather than downloading your Steam Community profile page.
- UI
- You can now select and delete multiple categories at once. If multiple categories are selected, the program will show games from the first selected category. The Rename button will also act on the first selected category.
- Changed existing help tooltips and added a few more.
- Some changes to the way that certain columns sort themselves in lists.
- Changed several message boxes to make them more consistent.
- Database
- Changed list of AppTypes to include more meaningful types and to remove all the various error types.
- Added Platforms field (Win, Mac, Linux).
- Added Parent field (for DLC and demos)
- Database now has the ability to pull certain information from the local AppInfo cache file.
- By default, it will do this every time the program starts. This might increase the startup time by a few seconds on some systems. This can be disabled in the program settings.
- Information obtained in this way includes the type of app (more accurate than old web scrape method), available platforms, and parent app.
- This may not include data for all apps, but it should include all the apps that you actually own.
- Database now keeps track of the last time an app was updated from the cache file and the last time it was updated from the Steam store.
- Updated the database editor interface to account for these new changes.
- Added a checkbox in the database editor to limit your view to games in your own list. For now, this will also exclude DLC and other ignored items.
- Updated the database entry editor to actually show all the information in the database.
- Some changes to DB formatting.
- By default, database will now save to disk if an update is run during an autocat operation. Change in program settings.
- Other
- Program now keeps track of why it thinks you own each game. Nothing is done with this information for now, but it could be used later to help filter out some types of unwanted entries.
- Autocat routines can now check a game's "parent" if the game in question is missing a particular type of data. This should only happen rarely.
- Additional error logging.
- Fixes
- Fixed broken flag detection during scraping that resulted from the recent Store update.
Depressurizer v0.5.1.0
Depressurizer 0.5.1.0 (Sep 10 2014)
Changelist
- Major Changes & New Features
- Autocategorization schemes ("AutoCats") are now user-configurable. They can be changed using the Edit AutoCats item under the Profile menu, are stored as part of your Profile.
- Added AutoCat type for categorizing based on Steam Store "flags" like Single-Player, Controller Support, Steam Cloud, etc.. In order to use this, you must use the Edit AutoCats dialog to create a new autocategorization scheme.
- Genre-based AutoCat now supports a text prefix and can ignore categories.
- Other
- New profiles (and profiles last saved before 0.5.0) will now only have one AutoCat option added, rather than four.
- Removed "Ignore external games" checkbox in the Profile dialog and replaced with "Include non-Steam games" (which does the opposite!)
- New profiles now handle non-Steam games by default.
- Simplified non-Steam game importing slightly, and the program no longer attempts to import non-Steam games when you download your game list (only on Steam import).
Depressurizer v0.5.0.1
Depressurizer 0.5.0.1 (Sep 4 2014)
Changelist
- When saving, will now correct certain improper Steam config file elements instead of failing to save.
Depressurizer 0.5.0 (Sep 4 2014) (Previous Version)
Changelist
- Major Changes & New Features
- Now includes multi-category support for both manual and auto categorization.
- New category picker below the game list.
- Support for hiding games.
- Modifying games categories or favorite status via the controls below the game list no longer requires clicking a button to apply the changes to the selected games.
- Very early stages of support for alternate auto-categorization schemes. At this time, the only choices are variations on genre-based categorization, similar to what has existed.
- Single-category genre categorization will only use the first genre from the Steam store page. Multi-category will use all of them.
- The "with removal" option will remove existing categories that match Steam genre names from the autocategorized games. An "Action" genre will be removed, but an "Action RPG" genre will be left in place. "No removal" will only add categories.
- Removed manual import option. You now must create a profile to use the program.
- Other changes
- Now targets .NET Framework v4.5.1
- Categories now sort in the same order that they do in Steam (I think).
- No longer writes directly to Steam config files: writes temporary files, then moves them into place. This should prevent a problem during writing from destroying your configuration.
- Added an automatic backup for Steam config files. Keeps the previous three versions of localconfig.vdf and shortcuts.vdf.
Other notes
Some parts of the Spanish translation are incomplete.

Depressurizer v0.4.5.1
Changes since 0.4.4
Features
- Now has the capability to handle non-Steam games. At the moment, this is disabled by default. To enable this feature, go to the "Ignored Games" section of your profile and uncheck "Ignore external games." For now, the games will only appear if they have been previously launched from the Steam client at least once.
- You can now launch games directly from Depressurizer.
UI and Usability
- Now supports localization, and is currently translated into Spanish.
- Changes to the look of the game list
- The game list can now optionally be displayed with groups for different categories.
Database changes
- Fixed scraping problems caused by recent changes to the Steam store pages.
- Database now contains game publisher, developer, release date, a list of store flags (like Full Controller Support, Multiplayer, etc) and Metacritic link. This doesn't really do any good at the moment, but it's groudwork for future improvements.
- Database file is now saved using gzip compression to prevent it from ballooning in size as new fields are added to it
Bug Fixes
- Fixed crash that could occur when loading shortcut data.
- Fixed a crash that could occur if the program was unable to open a log file.
- You can no longer attempt to manually add multiple games with the same ID
0.4.4
Changes since 0.4.3:
UI and Usability
- Profile creation no longer requires you to enter your profile URL name manually. The profile page now presents a list of all accounts with saved settings existing under your current Steam installation. All Steam account information is now referenced by the 64-bit Steam ID, which means that the program will now work even if you don't have a profile URL name set.
- If an attempt is made to download a profile's game list, and the profile is not set to "Public," the program will now provide an error message that specifically says so instead of saying that there were no games.
- Adding an item to the selection in the main list now sets the "Set Favorite" combo box to the opposite value of the selected item. This lets the "Set Favorite" button be used like a simple toggle in the simple case.
- Manually downloading a game list can be done by steam ID or by custom URL name.
- Program logging can now be controlled through the settings dialog.
Other changes
- Program logging is now enabled by default, and uses a more sane file scheme.
- If the full directory structure required to save the Steam config file does not exist, the program will create it instead of showing an error message.
