This adds documentation on how to download the Debian packages for Qt Creator and the plugin.
For the plugin, we use the GitHub API to get the latest tagged release. This does not work as nicely with Qt Creator since there is no easy way to get the latest released version and https://github.com/qt-creator/qt-creator also add "beta" and "rc" as releases. Therefore, we have to explicitly provide the full SemVer version there. If we want to fall back to the
versions.yaml
, then this also would need to be updated every time a patch-version of Qt Creator is released. For the GitHub releases of Qt Creator, you could also get the path to the Debian package with something like:
wget --directory-prefix=/tmp $(curl -s https://api.github.com/repos/qt-creator/qt-creator/releases/tags/v14.0.2 | grep -E 'browser_download_url.*qtcreator-linux-x64-.*.deb' | cut -d'"' -f 4)
but you would still need to provide the version / tag (
v14.0.2
) since referencing thelatest
:wget --directory-prefix=/tmp $(curl -s https://api.github.com/repos/qt-creator/qt-creator/releases/latest | grep -E 'browser_download_url.*qtcreator-linux-x64-.*.deb' | cut -d'"' -f 4)
gives you the current Qt Creator 15 beta1 (
v15.0.0-beta1
).Any idea how to get the current stable release?
