Bumps codecov/codecov-action from 3 to 4.

Release notes

Sourced from codecov/codecov-action's releases.

v4.0.0

v4 of the Codecov Action uses the CLI as the underlying upload. The CLI has helped to power new features including local upload, the global upload token, and new upcoming features.

Breaking Changes

  • The Codecov Action runs as a node20 action due to node16 deprecation. See this post from GitHub on how to migrate.
  • Tokenless uploading is unsupported. However, PRs made from forks to the upstream public repos will support tokenless (e.g. contributors to OS projects do not need the upstream repo's Codecov token). This doc shows instructions on how to add the Codecov token.
  • OS platforms have been added, though some may not be automatically detected. To see a list of platforms, see our CLI download page
  • Various arguments to the Action have been changed. Please be aware that the arguments match with the CLI's needs

v3 versions and below will not have access to CLI features (e.g. global upload token, ATS).

Changelog

4.0.0-beta.2

Fixes

  • #1085 not adding -n if empty to do-upload command

4.0.0-beta.1

  • Tokenless uploading is unsuported
  • Various arguments to the Action have been removed

Review checklist

This checklist is meant to assist creators of PRs (to let them know what reviewers will typically look for) and reviewers (to guide them in a structured review process). Items do not need to be checked explicitly for a PR to be eligible for merging.

Purpose and scope

  • The PR has a single goal that is clear from the PR title and/or description.
  • All code changes represent a single set of modifications that logically belong together.
  • No more than 500 lines of code are changed or there is no obvious way to split the PR into multiple PRs.

Code quality

  • The code can be understood easily.
  • Newly introduced names for variables etc. are self-descriptive and consistent with existing naming conventions.
  • There are no redundancies that can be removed by simple modularization/refactoring.
  • There are no leftover debug statements or commented code sections.
  • The code adheres to our conventions and style guide, and to the Julia guidelines.

Documentation

  • New functions and types are documented with a docstring or top-level comment.
  • Relevant publications are referenced in docstrings (see example for formatting).
  • Inline comments are used to document longer or unusual code sections.
  • Comments describe intent ("why?") and not just functionality ("what?").
  • If the PR introduces a significant change or new feature, it is documented in NEWS.md.

Testing

  • The PR passes all tests.
  • New or modified lines of code are covered by tests.
  • New or modified tests run in less then 10 seconds.

Performance

  • There are no type instabilities or memory allocations in performance-critical parts.
  • If the PR intent is to improve performance, before/after time measurements are posted in the PR.

Verification

  • The correctness of the code was verified using appropriate tests.
  • If new equations/methods are added, a convergence test has been run and the results
    are posted in the PR.

Don't we need to a add a CODECOV_TOKEN when we move to v4?

We have it already in https://github.com/trixi-framework/Trixi.jl/pull/1827/files#diff-b803fcb7f17ed9235f1e5cb1fcd2f5d3b2838429d4368ae4c57ce4436577f03fR138

Aha, so we do not need to add it to a new env block because it is already included in the with block?

This was a bug in the codecov action, which has been fixed in 4.0.1. Now either the with or the env block can be used.

Hi guys,
I'm not sure whether this question is stupid or not, but is it correct that at the end of each codecov action in the CI, we get this error message?
Screenshot from 2024-02-05 10-10-45

In HOHQMesh.jl and SMesh.jl, we added the CODECOV_TOKEN to a new env block and don't get this error but Process Upload complete instead.

Or does this just takes a few days to update to the newest release v4.0.1?

I don't know. Maybe make a PR to check?
