Installing and Updating MVE
Notice: MVE with all the dependencies will take around 10GB of drive space, so make sure you have enough space available.
If you're new to MVE, or want to do a separate, clean install, simply follow the steps below:
- download Windows version 0.8.2 or Linux version 0.8.2
- extract using your favourite archiver (ie 7-Zip)
Note: please make sure there's no spaces in the path when you extract MVE from the zip archive, as a space in the path can cause issues with some of the functionality
To see all available versions, join MVE discord and visit #mve-releases
channel
On Windows, simply double click Machine Video Editor.exe
On Linux, go to Terminal, navigate to the directory you extracted to, and use ./machine-video-editor
When you first run MVE you will be asked to install needed dependencies
Either click "Yes" now, or at a later time go to Help > Install Dependencies
You will be presented with a window that has Install, Update, Remove, and Close options.
Clicking Install will start the process of installing needed dependencies for you.
You will know everything is done once you get a message that a conda environment was set up:
and at that time you can click Close
For MVE versions up to and including 0.9.0, if you're experiencing issues, you should update the Environment.yml
file before installing dependencies.
- if you have already installed dependencies - uninstall them via Help > Install Dependencies > Remove and close MVE afterwards
- replace the Environment file with the one found in MVE discord > #Support channel > pinned message from — 14/06/2022
- now install dependencies following standard instructions
At this time, you should probably show your MVE where your DFL is installed.
To do that, go to File > Settings and under "DFL build folder" use your explorer / window manager to point to the correct directory.
Congratulations, you are now ready to use MVE! :)
If you already have MVE installed and configured, with all dependencies installed, you can simplify the process of updating to the new version by using the Update feature:
- download the latest release, found on MVE discord in
#mve-releases
channel, as a*.zip
file - start your already installed MVE and go to
Help > Update
- guide your file manager to the correct zip file and click Update, as seen in the picture below:
