Getting Started
So far, this mod has been tested with NEI, Adventure Backpack, and Journey Map.
We will update this list if users are interested, and maybe also start a list of incompatible mods.
Vampirism is a mod that adds a whole new way of playing Minecraft. You may have previously spent a lot of time avoiding mobs, but as a Vampire, you will develop a thirst for killing :)
You may want to explore more than normal, which is why I suggest installing a few other mods that help with that. Some kind of mapping mod to help you find your way around and something that gives you a few more inventory slots is a good idea. To encourage exploration, we have added more villages in more biomes. The villages in swamps is especially interesting.
You will start out as a regular player. Explore the villages and find the Vampire's Fear sword. As a regular player, Vampire Hunters will not attack you but the Vampires will. Use the Vampire's Fear against them and collect their blood. Also look in swamps for the Blood Altar. When you have the sword full of blood, perform the ritual with the Vampire's Fear sword and Blood Altar to become a Vampire.
Once you become a Vampire, one of your main sources of blood (at least the best source) is villagers and you should find plenty of those. Watch out though, are still Vampires that may attack you, same as when you are a regular player. The Vampire Hunters will not, when you are a level 1 Vampire.
As a Vampire, you need to watch how much blood you have. Suck blood from Villagers and from some mobs to get more blood. You will know which mobs you can't get blood from, as you will receive damage trying to suck their blood. You start at level 1 (see the HUD for your level). You will have improved jump, health, and attack.
You will need to upgrade the Blood Altar to Tier 2, to advance to higher levels. TBD how to upgrade. When you get above a certain level, the Vampires will no longer attack you.
