Optional Parts

Tim Wiese edited this page Aug 26, 2020 · 7 revisions

Over time, a few optional parts were released. The files for these parts can be found in the latest release.

The parts are added to the assembly A09_ExoMy_with_Addons.SLDASM and can be manufactured using the instructions bellow.

If you design an addition to ExoMy, share it with use as described in the Contribution Guidelines and we'll add to the list here.

Wheel Sleeves

The wheels of ExoMy are designed to perform optimally on loose terrain such as soil, sand, gravel or rocks. However, for operations on a hard floor a smoother and softer rolling surface is preferred.

The tire sleeve add-on can be printed using flexible filament. For assembly, the sleeves can simply be slid over the wheels.

Tips for printing with flexible filament

  • Tested filaments: Formfutura FlexiFil & RS PRO FLEX 45
  • Material: TPC (Thermoplastic Co-Polyester)
  • Shore hardness: 45D

For good elasticity, infill density should be set to around 20 %. TPC requires a higher print and build plate temperature than PLA. Retraction should be disabled to avoid material grinding. Print speed should be slow to avoid clogging. Print cooling might need to be disabled to avoid detaching of prints.

Cura settings

  • Infill Density: 20 %
  • Printing Temperature: 250 °C
  • Build Plate Temperature: 100 °C
  • Enable Retraction: False
  • Print Speed: max. 40 mm/s
  • Enable Print Cooling: False
