Within Astro, members of DAOs can be bundled into groups. With groups, DAOs have more flexibility in regards to governance due to the ability to restrict the voting on certain proposal types to members of specific groups.

Why group members?

Additionally, groups serve as a way to clearly identify the roles of members within a DAO.

Creating a group

  1. Click on the Members/Group bar is opened the Members page.
  2. Click on ‘Create a Group’ button.
  3. Enter the details for your proposed group:
    1. Enter the group name.
    2. Enter the description and some details to identify your proposal.
    3. Add an external URL link if needed.
    4. Add at least one member using their NEAR Account.
  4. Click on ‘Propose’ button.

So you've made a proposal to create a group. Now members of the DAO must vote in order to accept this proposal or reject it. Depending on the voting policy of the exact DAO there can be different votes percentage and vote weight for every DAO member.
