(notes of previous meeting: https://github.com/EESSI/meetings/wiki/Azure-meeting-Oct-28-2022)
Agenda:
- EuroHPC MultiXscale grant agreement is being signed
- on track to start project 1 Jan 2023
- EOSC Future grant (Ivar)
- for requesting OCRE funding
- SURF as aggregator
- problem was that we had to chose 1 cloud provider
- proposal with multiple providers is providing to be complicated
- Google and AWS backed out
- Azure & Oracle are still involved
- Ivar has already worked a lot on this
- Due Friday 16 Dec
- Draft/concept available Tuesday
- support letters from researchers using EESSI (recycle from previous proposal)
- Too late for renewals, Alan will review the older ones and see if they are suitable for reuse
- to do: write up some text on sustainability, onboarding, ...
- EESSI at azhop workshop at SC'22
- see also slide 5 at https://github.com/EESSI/meetings/blob/main/meetings/EESSI_meeting_20221201.pdf
- attendees were pretty impressed on how easy it was to get OpenFOAM running
- progress on build-and-deploy bot
- https://github.com/EESSI/eessi-bot-software-layer
- build + deploy phase implemented: minimal features are now functional
- see test at https://github.com/boegel/software-layer/pull/18
- set up a Slurm cluster in Azure
- which tool? CitC, Magic Castle, azhop, Cyclecloud
- Cylclecloud seems like the easiest short term solution (and can include auto-scaling)
- No need for bells and whistles for the bot...and better to have it in it's own environment anyway
- easystack file support in EasyBuild has been improved/extended
- can now specify configuration options per easyconfig
- GitHub Team plan for EESSI (Alan)
- for https://github.com/EESSI
- mainly so we can use protected branches in private repos, enforce use of signed commits, ...
- see https://github.com/pricing
- EESSI Hackathon Dec'22 (14-21 Dec)
